Our take
The MSI MPG 271QRX combines a 360Hz QD-OLED panel with vivid colours, perfect blacks and blistering motion clarity. It's a dream monitor for competitive and cinematic gaming alike, with excellent connectivity and a burn-in warranty.
Picture quality
The 271QRX uses Samsung Display's QD-OLED panel, in which each pixel lights itself and quantum dots produce very pure, saturated colours. Blacks are perfect, contrast is effectively infinite, and colours are among the most vibrant of any monitor, covering 99% of the DCI-P3 range. It's certified for DisplayHDR True Black 400.
The screen has a glossy finish, which makes images look clear and punchy, but it reflects lights and windows. In a bright room, QD-OLED blacks can also look slightly grey under direct light.
Gaming performance
At 360Hz with a 0.03ms response time, motion clarity is outstanding. Fast games look razor sharp, making this one of the best monitors for competitive shooters. To reach 360fps at 1440p you'll need a fast graphics card and processor, such as an RTX 5070 Ti or above with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, in lighter esports games. In demanding single-player games it still looks superb at lower frame rates.
Connections
A USB-C port carries video and supplies up to 90W, enough to charge most laptops over one cable, and the built-in KVM switch lets you control a laptop and desktop with one keyboard and mouse. HDMI 2.1 supports PS5 and Xbox Series X at 120Hz.
Burn-in
OLED panels can suffer burn-in if the same static image, such as a taskbar or game HUD, stays on screen for hours every day. Modern OLED monitors reduce the risk by gently shifting pixels and running a panel-refresh cycle when the monitor is in standby, so leave it plugged in, use a dark theme and let the screen sleep when you're away. MSI's OLED Care features do this automatically, and MSI's three-year warranty covers burn-in.
Who should buy it
Buy the MSI MPG 271QRX if you want the fastest, most vivid 1440p monitor and have a PC that can drive it, especially for competitive games. If you can't reach high frame rates, the 240Hz LG 27GS95QE gives a similar OLED experience for less.
